SHINE Exceeds Heart Walk Fundraising Goal

JANESVILLE, Wis., September 20, 2020 – SHINE Medical Technologies LLC today announced that its team for the Bert Blain Memorial Virtual Heart Walk raised more than $13,000 to support the American Heart Association’s mission of reducing disability and death caused by heart disease and stroke.

2020 Bert Blain Memorial Virtual Heart Walk chair and SHINE community and employee engagement manager, Cheryl Peterson, walking with family to promote heart health.

This is the fourth year that SHINE has participated in the Heart Walk, which was held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Walkers were invited to walk in the safety of their own neighborhoods. The SHINE team has nearly doubled the funds it has raised each walk since 2017, when it began participating. The team has a four-year fundraising total of more than $28,000.

“SHINE employees, family members and friends are extremely proud to raise money for heart disease and stroke research through the Annual Bert Blain Memorial Heart Walk,” said Cheryl Peterson, the 2020 heart walk chair and community and employee engagement manager at SHINE. “Now more than ever, it is important to keep our hearts healthy, as a healthy heart helps fight off the coronavirus. About one in three people with the virus has cardiovascular disease, making it the most common underlying health condition.”

SHINE encourages employee participation in community events that complement its mission, including those that support the eradication of heart disease and cancer.
